Well, we're in the second quarter already! We have had such a busy couple of months, I can’t believe it’s already April.
Sadly, Kym Baty has left us recently. Many of you would know Kym – she was on site for most of our events for the past three years or so. I know we will miss her - nothing was ever too much trouble for a client, and her attention to detail was second to none. We wish her very well in the future!
On a more positive note, though, we are welcoming two new girls to the office! Emma Tooth is our new Event Coordinator, and Michelle McAvoy is our Event Assistant. They have both already hit the ground running (especially Michelle, who is looking after the Brisbane Marathon – ha!), and we are having lots of fun in the office already. They are very happy about Fondue Friday. ;-)
I’d like to welcome some of our new clients too – we are now working with Green Roofs Australia for their conference in June, and the Australasian Sponsorship Marketing Association, for their annual meeting on the Gold Coast in October. We are now looking after some weekend retreats for TEC as well, which is great.
Iceberg Events are proud to be involved with the inaugural Passionate Office Professionals Charity Award Lunch, to be held on Wednesday, 23 April at Hotel Conrad. Please support this event by rewarding your passionate office professional today. More info can be found below, or at www.pops.net.au.
I hope you all had a lovely Easter Break – it will be Christmas again before we know it!
Warm Wishes
Jodie Parker

[4] Some of the things we've been up to lately...
As well as organising our client's wonderful events, we've also been up to a couple of things recently...
Passionate Office Professionals Inaugural Charity Award Lunch
Wednesday, 23 April at Hotel Conrad
Iceberg Events are involved with a wonderful boutique event for Office Professionals Day and to support homeless women and children. Come along and enjoy a delicious lunch while celebrating the achievements of innovative office professionals. Listen to inspirational speaker Margot Spalding co-owner and co-director of Jimmy Possum Furniture and relax as we parade the latest fashions for the stylish office professional (ladies & men) and provide you with styling tips for winter. Please pass on this event to your Passionate Office Professional! What a way to be rewarded!
Having an easy to navigate conference website is important when driving traffic there to promote registrations and sponsorship opportunities. It's also informative with accessible programs, venue, accommodation and transport information. One of the fanastic services we're offering are conference and event websites. Lisa Ma is putting her graphic design skills to use with designing event website templates for clients. A big thank you to Kintek for building the website.
Did you know that Southbank Parklands carpark is a "green roof?! Around the world, at all levels of government, green roofs are recognised as an important response to climate change.
A green roof system is an extension of a building's existing roof which involves a high quality water proofing and root repellant system, a drainage system, filter cloth, a lightweight growing medium and plants. The rapidly growing Green Roof and Wall industry is providing a realistic and tangible response to the climate change challenges many cities are currently facing.
Since 2006, design approaches to subtropical cities have broadened while the issues of living sustainably have become more focused, particularly around the impact of climate change on cities, ecological footprints and sensitivity to local distinctiveness. The 2008 Conference seeks to clear the opacity associated with the fault lines by providing clarity and vision for subtropical urbanism in 2020.
The Conference will offer an exhilarating setting to share and debate ideas; ideas about what subtropical urbanism could be by 2020. Will it aspire to a new resilient urban form? Will it still maintain a centrality of landscape? Will it still focus on ecological paradigms?
