Iceberg Events Newsletter December 2016 - Merry Christmas from the Iceberg team!
Nearly the end of the year again!
The team here are all in need of a rest, as I’m sure you are, too! We are looking forward to 2017, which seems packed with conferences and events, some new, and some repeat.
I got to visit some awesome spots this year scoping out potential event spaces in Dubai, Alice Springs, the Hunter Valley and Wellington to name a few. I am feeling very well travelled this year, and I have lots of ideas for events in far away places if you are interested.
This was our 20th year of business and we are looking forward to celebrating our 21st in April next year.
Once again, we all attended the PCOA Conference (the conference for conference organisers – is that like a coffee table book about coffee tables?). The experience of being a delegate is a valuable one, it inspires empathy and makes sure that we have your delegates point of view in mind at all times. Plus, it’s really fun to ask “what room is this session in?”, “what time is the bus coming”?, and “sorry I left my namebadge in my room, can you print me another one?”
Our 11th year of running NETWORX Marketers meetings saw some changes with our three new and fabulous facilitators. Next year we will be experimenting with some different kinds of events for NETWORX, stay tuned!

pcoa cONFERENCE 2016
The Iceberg Events Team recently attended the 9th Professional Conference Organisers Association Conference at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Over three days we said hello to some 60 exhibitors, networked with other PCO’s in some of Brisbane’s exciting new venues and attended great workshops and presentations. Thank you to everyone who made the event possible, see you again in 2017!
DID YOU KNOW...?
Iceberg Events has developed our own online abstract and submission manager portal which can be used for your event. This portal sits within your event website, and simplifies the process of receiving and cataloguing abstracts, as well as making the review process streamlined whether your reviewers are local, or around the world. Anyone who has ever been part of a review process I’m sure is aware of how messy and frustrating this can be.
We have been using the portal with selected clients this year, taking their feedback, and making various amendments to the site (and I’m sure this will be an ongoing process forever!). We have received plenty of great feedback for it though, and we are really happy with how it’s working.
The portal could also be used for Award Submissions as part of your event if required.
