Iceberg Events Newsletter July 2016 - Iceberg Events turns 20!

We are already halfway through the year, didn't that time just fly?! Iceberg Events recently celebrated its 20th birthday in April! Where did that time go? Over the last two decades the company has grown from a one-person operation running from my home to a busy, noisy, fun office of nine!. Thank you for the ongoing support of my family, friends, employees, suppliers and of course our wonderful clients.

April was indeed an exciting month as I travelled to Europe to promote an international conference which our team is managing in 2018, with a stopover in Dubai on my way home for venue site visits for a potential conference for 2017.

At the end of May, the Iceberg team attended the annual staff retreat at the Gold Coast. It was a fun couple of days that enabled our team time to reflect, relax and also recharge for the busy months ahead and focus our plan for 2017 and beyond. I can see already that 2017 will be a very busy year for us, and we are starting lock away dates for 2018 and beyond now!

Congratulations to Jodie Parker, founder and Managing Director of Iceberg Events, on 20 years
of successful business!

In early April, the team surprised Jodie with presents and a personalised Iceberg cake as well as flowers and a commemorative plaque.  It goes to show how sneaky the team can be when organising these things, because Jodie had no idea!  It seems, though, that plumbers have leaky taps – we didn’t have an event to celebrate.  We are thinking maybe when we turn 21…

A special shout out to our valued clients and suppliers who have contributed to the success of 20 years of operation. Thank you for your continued support and collaboration in delivering many successful conferences and events!

 

staff retreat

In May the Iceberg team took some time out to come together as a group and talk about all things Iceberg Events & Travel at the annual staff retreat. 

The retreat included DISC profiling which was very insightful (and fun!), two days of conversations about how to do what we do better than ever, and social functions with partners, friends and family. Everyone contributed to the conversation with a focus on team building, implementing change and strategic planning for 2017 and beyond. Thank you to the QT Gold Coast for hosting our retreat.

TIP OF THE ICEBERG

Conference attendees are finding Twitter to be an incredibly valuable communication platform. People love to tweet about conferences – before it happens, while it is happening and even afterwards! Setting up a hash tag is free and it provides real-time updates on sessions, sponsors/exhibitors, social events, etc. It will assist in increasing marketing and brand awareness, add life to your event and opens the conversation up to a larger audience!
